From Thursday 27 June to Wednesday 3 July 2024

According to the prefecture, water levels and current speeds are set to increase from Thursday 27 June, due to a major release of water from a dam, which will increase the average flow of the river to more than 260 m³ per second, between this Thursday and Wednesday 3 July. As a reminder, when the river level exceeds 1.5 m at the Cénac bridge, navigation is automatically prohibited.

Recreational canoeing and kayaking is therefore prohibited during this period for inexperienced canoeists, with a risk of falling in the still-cold water between Cazoulès (Pechs-de-l'Espérance) and Limeuil. Accompanied and supervised practice by staff holding a specific qualification for the activity, or practice by experienced people with a licence from the Fédération française de canoë-kayak, remains authorised.

Saturday 25 May 2024

The level of the Dordogne has fallen over the last few days, and canoe hire companies in the Périgord have been able to resume their activities after 27 days out of action due to flooding and heavy rain.

Thursday 9 May 2024: No canoes on the Dordogne and the Vézère

This is a major blow on the public holidays around Ascension Day, especially as temperatures of up to 27 degrees are expected this weekend. Due to the high water, no canoes can currently be used on the Dordogne and the Vézère. Hopefully the water level will drop quickly in the hot temperatures so that the canoes can be taken out again on Sunday.

Thursday 2 May 2024

Because of rising water levels, the "gabares", the friendly little "cruising" boats that can be seen near Bergerac, but also at La Roque-Gageac, Cénac and Beynac, are currently unable to navigate on the Dordogne. A prefectoral decree prohibits boating at water depths of 2 metres or more, which is the case this week. Rain is still expected over the next few days, but everyone hopes that the barges will be able to sail again on Ascension weekend.

Grappe de Cyrano is a motorbike race in the Dordogne region which attracts around 600 riders of all levels every year... from world champions to amateurs.

This classic race takes place over two days, and this year it takes place not far from Perrot in Périgord. The noise pollution shouldn't last long (some of the riders will only pass through on the afternoon of Saturday 20 April 2024, if I've understood correctly), but you've been warned and don't worry.

FR-ALERT is a public alert system that sends notifications to the mobile phones of people present in an area facing danger. Once activated, it informs the citizens concerned of the nature and location of the danger and indicates the behaviour to adopt. This alert tool is based on technologies that enable rapid, mass notification.

This new warning system is in addition to traditional channels (town hall sirens, press releases, etc.) and provides an appropriate response to all crises involving natural and technological hazards and the effects of threats.

A test of this system will be carried out by government departments on the morning of Tuesday 9 April 2024. It will cover the whole of the Dordogne.

CLOSURE OF THE SAINT CAPRAISE DE LALINDE - VARENNES BRIDGE

To enable investigations to be carried out from 1 March 2024 until 30 June 2024, all vehicle traffic will be prohibited on the departmental bridge carrying local road no. 8 in the communes of Saint Capraise de Lalinde and Varennes. Two diversions will be put in place:

What better way to start the new year than by planning your next stay in Perrot en Périgord? 🤩

👉 Good to know: With only one public holiday falling on a weekend, namely Sunday 14 July 📅, 2024 is favourable for bridging days and extended weekends. Here you can find out how you should plan your holiday to enjoy as much relaxation as possible:

✅ This year, Easter falls on Sunday 31 March, so Monday 1 April is a public holiday. If you take four days off in April, from Tuesday 2 to Friday 5 April, you can enjoy eight days of rest.

✅ In May, with four French public holidays (Wednesday 1, Wednesday 8, Thursday 9 and Monday 20), it is possible to enjoy 21 days off with nine days of holiday. If you also take the 29th and 30th of April off, that would be 11 days that you can take to have 23 days off.

✅ As 15 August falls on a Thursday this year, you can treat yourself to an extended weekend by taking Friday 16 August off, or even have a whole week off if you take Monday 12 August to Wednesday 14 August.

✅ From the end of October to mid-November, you can optimise your holiday around 1 (All Saints' Day) and 11 November (Armistice Day). If you take leave from Monday 4 November to Friday 8 November, you can enjoy 11 days off in a row. If you take four days off from 28 to 31 October or from 12 to 15 November, you can take nine days off.

That means there are plenty of great opportunities to visit us! 🤩 So check our booking calendars quickly and contact us at 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐭@𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬-𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐞.𝐟𝐫 to block your stay in the Dordogne.

See you soon ! 😘

Despite the public holiday, the Lalinde Intermarché will be open on Wednesday 1 November 2023 from 9 am to 12.30 pm.

Here in Perrot en Périgord, we've spared no expense to introduce the fastest and most efficient telecommunication of the moment to our rural region: 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒕 𝒈𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔 💻 since Thursday 19 October 2023. 👍

✅ We didn't really have a choice: it would seem that in a few years' time, internet connection without fibre would simply no longer be possible. And at least, by being one of the "early pioneers", we were offered free installation (well,... except for the washing up liquid 😎).

✅ If, like me, you're wondering what fibre optics have to do with this tin of washing-up liquid, you should know that Orange operators needed a product to make the fibre slide into the sheath. 👉 We'll go to bed less stupid tonight - eh?
